The house is situated in a dramatic hillside setting in Carefree, Arizona. The massing was terraced to fit the slopes which had been carefully prepared as part of the overall design.
 
Large glass areas are deeply recessed to provide shielding from exterior glare and interior heat gain. From the inside, broad expanses of tall, butt-glazed glass provide an intimate connection with surrounding boulders and vegetation.

Dramatic vistas provide for a continually changing element in the life of the house. The geometry of the structure is broken up into many levels and individual masses, all with soft, gentle forms.
