Desert Hillside Residence
Paradise Valley, AZ
The Owner desired a strong design statement which would celebrate the sensitivity of its dramatic mountain setting. Vertical rock faces were sculpted and left exposed as ornamental features of the entrance drive and exterior terraces. A guest house is reached by a small pedestrian bridge which crosses an arroyo left in its natural state. An open floor plan provides for panoramic views toward the uphill slope of the mountain and to the valley below. Clerestory windows afford diffused daylighting throughout the house. Articulated wall and roof shapes are used to integrate the structure with its high profile setting.
