The Arizona Biltmore
Phoenix, AZ
In 1992 it was decided that the Arizona Biltmore
Hotel required a larger pool area, including a water slide and children's area. Utilizing the traditional Biltmore patterned block, a series of single-story cabanas were positioned as foreground structures to establish a connection and to visually lower the profile of the prior four story additions. A feature structure, complete with four copper-roofed planting towers, was designed to house the water slide. The structure with its four spires, gas torches, and waterfall provides a playful focal point at the far end of the new pool. An outdoor restaurant and swim-up bar extends out into the pool. Ornamental metal gates and spires, mitered glass, and geometric canvas awnings have all been designed as compatible features of the original hotel.
